Everyone asks how the mom is doing. 🤍
And that matters. It really does.
But I want to talk about the spouse.
The one standing just behind her in the doctor’s office. 🏥
The one holding it together while their entire world collapses too. 💔
They hear the same words.
They see the same ultrasound. 🖥️
They understand the same risks.
They are trying to be strong when they are just as terrified. 😔
Trying to ask the right questions while watching the person they love fall apart.
Trying to protect everyone—while having no control at all.
So here’s how to care for the spouse when a baby is diagnosed with a heart condition:
• 🤍 Check on them—not just “How’s your wife?”
• 🫂 Give them space to be scared without needing to fix it
• 😶 Don’t assume silence means strength
• 🗣️ Let them talk… and let them not talk
• 🙏 Offer practical help so they don’t have to carry everything alone
Because behind every heart mom is a partner doing their best to hold up a world that suddenly feels impossibly heavy.
See them. 👀
Support them. 🤝
Stay with them. ❤️
